History Founded in 1956, the Pittsburgh Section of the American Nuclear Society, together with its Beaver Valley Branch and University of Pittsburgh Student Section, serve the members of the American Nuclear Society in Western Pennsylvania. The San Diego Section of the American Nuclear Society is the local section of the ANS for Southern California. If you have interest in nuclear science and technology, we invite you to become a member. ANS members will have the opportunity to travel to the Virginia General Assembly in Richmond, where they will meet with elected officials to discuss the nuclear industry and the importance of nuclear energy.
